The SM Store launched the SM Share Movement Donate-A-Book campaign in all its branches nationwide. Starting May 20 to July 7, 2019, shoppers can donate books and school supplies to benefit school children of select SM Foundation supported schools. In exchange, shoppers will receive 50 pesos discount coupon for every donation made. According to Joseph Rosal, Senior AVP for Operations of The SM Store,

“more shoppers are looking for ways to give back and The SM Store share this mission. We want to become the venue for people to come together and foster the true Filipino spirit of sharing or bayanihan.”

One of the beneficiaries of The SM Store is Balanga Elementary School in Bataan. Aside from the construction of a two-story school building by the SM Foundation, employee volunteers from the nearby branches of The SM Store shared a fun-filled day with grade 3 pupils. The SM Store, donated books enough to fill up the mini-library of the SM school building. They also distributed bags and school supplies along with the donation of 30 computer units. The grade 3 pupils were also treated to a storytelling session by The Story Telling Project (TSP), a non-government partner organization of SM, with the aim to spark hope and imagination through book reading.
